As part of Parliament Week celebrations, Politics students at Richard Huish College had the exciting opportunity to take part in a Q&A session with Gideon Amos, MP for Taunton and Wellington.

The event began with Gideon providing an insightful overview of Liberal Democrat policies before opening the floor to questions. Students demonstrated their curiosity and critical thinking by asking a wide range of questions, covering both local issues, such as crime, transport, and music venues in Taunton, and broader national and international topics, including the Assisted Dying Bill, the UK’s nuclear deterrent, and Britain’s relationship with Europe.

This interactive session offered a valuable chance for students to deepen their understanding of politics and engage directly with a serving MP. Gideon also stayed afterwards to chat informally and take selfies with students, making the experience even more memorable.

Huish is proud to provide opportunities like this that connect classroom learning with real-world political engagement.
