LEVEL 2: Cambridge Technical Diploma

This course is a core component of the Level 2 Creative Pathway. Studied alongside two other GCSEs, this one year course will help you prepare for a Level 3 Study Programme and to pursue a creative career.

You will develop a wide variety of skills including:

  • research
  • analysis
  • planning
  • organisation
  • leadership
  • communication
  • video production (e.g. camera operating, lighting and sound)
  • editing (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro).

You will also develop skills in English and Mathematics.

You have an opportunity to complete a week of work experience in a media related business to apply what you have learnt on the course.

You will develop skills in video production (e.g. camera operating, lighting, sound), audio production and editing (e.g. Adobe Suite), research, analysis, planning, organisation, leadership and communication.

Course content includes:

  • Understanding media industries
  • Understanding how media products are made to appeal to their target audiences
  • Planning, shooting and editing a media product (such as a short film)
  • Opportunities to create visual effects (such as blue screen or digital compositing) for a video production
  • Photography, graphic design and audio productions.

The assessments are completed thorough a combination of different types of internal coursework.

The format of the assignments are varied and could include activities such as creating a range of media projects and a supporting written portfolio.

 

You must be aged 16 years+ to complete the Level 2 Pathway.

The standard entry requirement is a GCSE profile of grade 3s however the programme is also aimed at students who haven’t had the opportunity to sit GCSE’s, this could be for several reasons which could include students who have been homeschooled.
