LEVEL 2: CERTIFICATE
EXAMINING BOARD: NCFE
This course is a component of the Level 2 Pathway. Studied alongside two other GCSEs, this one year course will help you prepare for a Level 3 Study Programme and to pursue a range of careers.
If you are interested in working with and supporting others, this is the Study Programme for you! Studying Health and Social Care will give you knowledge and understanding of the needs of individuals who are supported by others.
You will learn about the roles and responsibilities of care and support workers and the skills that they need to do their jobs effectively. You will gain an understanding of the importance of following policies and procedures to keep people safe, and to protect and promote their individual rights in a health or social care setting.
You will study topics such as:
- Human Lifespan Development
- Healthy Living
- Care Values in Health and Social Care
- Creative and Therapeutic Activities
- Effective Communication.
By the end of your Study Programme, you will have developed an excellent understanding of how people with health or social care needs can be supported and empowered to lead their very best lives and will be ready to continue with the next stage in your education.
You will study topics such as:
- Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care
- Human Growth and Development
- Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care.
Throughout the certificate, you will produce a portfolio of coursework which will be internally assessed.
You must be aged 16 years+ to complete the Level 2 Pathway.
The standard entry requirement is a GCSE profile of grade 3s however the programme is also aimed at students who haven’t had the opportunity to sit GCSE’s, this could be for several reasons which could include students who have been homeschooled.
