Students and staff at Richard Huish College made Christmas more meaningful this year by giving back to the community.

The Huish Sustainability Society ran a gifting station of donated Christmas jumpers, accessories and decorations. Students could help themselves to a free jumper in preparation for Christmas Jumper Day.

Christmas Jumper Day saw many students make great efforts to embrace the Christmas spirit. Huish musicians gave their time to perform the annual classics to a very receptive audience.

Students and staff have also contributed to two local charity initiatives. The first was the ARC Shoebox Appeal. Huish’s participation was coordinated by the Sociology department. ARC support those at risk of homelessness and those who have become homeless.  Students wrapped boxes of donated toiletries, warm clothing, accessories and other gifts, ready to be shared by the charity with those in need.

Students also donated essential food and toiletries to create hampers for the ‘Help Thy Neighbour’ campaign. Coordinated by the Business, Marketing and Management department, an amazing 135 hampers were donated to the cause. Additional donations were made to ‘Help Thy Neighbour’ by the Huish Law Society in coordination with their sponsor, Davitt Jones Bould.

Merry Christmas to all from Huish.
