Huish 30

Following the Huish 30 will help you succeed at college.
It is a recommendation that you dedicate 30 hours per week to your studies and wellbeing.
You spend:
- 15 hours in timetabled lessons
- 12 hours completing independent study
- 3 hours in tutorials and EnRICH activities.
On average, our students make better progress than students from most other similar institutions, with many exceeding their target grades. Huish 30 is a key factor in helping students achieve excellent results.

Timetable
Lessons are 1h 30m or 1h 55m hours long.
You will participate in 15 hours of lessons per week (9 lessons).
For example:
- If you study three subjects (e.g. A Level/Extended Certificates) you will have 3 lessons per subject per week.
- If you study one subject (e.g. Extended Diploma) you will have 9 lessons of the single subject per week.
You will be registered in your lessons and your tutorial. Outside of classes you can choose how to spend your time and are permitted to leave the campus.
You will need to spend 12 hours per week studying outside of lessons to keep up with your courses.
We recommend you complete your independent study hours in your free periods so you can keep your evenings free. This is similar to what you might experience in a full time job.
For your wellbeing, we encourage you to dedicate at least 3 hours of your week to other interests. To aid your personal development you will have a 1.5 hour timetabled tutorial each week and you’ll find fun opportunities available in our EnRICH programme.
